Who is behind CampinGate
Italian software born out of a physical problem: people stuck at the gate in the evening, with the front desk closed and no number that answered.
Italian engineering, the whole chain
CampinGate comes from two Italian founders who wanted to build something of their own, not resell someone else's software. The management system, the guest portal and the device that opens the barrier: we make all three.
That is why, when your campground asks for something specific, we can say yes instead of “that's not supported”: there is no supplier upstream to convince.

Behind the scenes: how we got here
Ideas matter, but the work shows in what actually runs on site, every day. Here is the path, with nothing dressed up.

It all started with an idea
In November 2025 it was just an idea. By January 2026 it was already live, on a real site, with real guests coming in and out.
Bookings, payments, management from a panel: the essentials, enough to prove — first of all to ourselves — that the idea worked.
It was rough. But it was ours, and it was alive.
The hardware · V0 → V2
The device: from V0 to V2
Software alone was not enough. The entrance needed something physical: a device that opens the barrier with no keys and no queue of running engines.
The first prototype, the V0, was bare-bones. We put it to the test in the field and it told us everything we had to improve, so we redesigned the boards from scratch — not once, but twice. The V1 and then the V2: faster, more reliable, built to last for years under sun, rain and dust.
The real strength is something else: the device adapts. Where there is wifi it connects to yours. Where coverage does not reach — the entrance at the far end of the pine wood, the barrier on the lake side — it runs on its own with a SIM card, over the cellular network.

In the field · ~20 versions
Every site taught us something
We did not shut ourselves in an office imagining features: we built them by watching what actually happened, day after day. Every snag for a guest and every difficulty for a manager became an update.

That is how the software reached about twenty versions in little more than a year, and it keeps moving.

Why campgrounds now
The same engine runs motorhome stopovers, car parks and campgrounds today. But a campground is not a bigger stopover: it has different pitch types, seasons with their own prices, fixed accommodation, long-stay contracts, and a front desk that in August is the bottleneck of the whole site.
CampinGate is the version of the product built around that job. Underneath is the same software we have trusted for a year; on top, everything is made for the campground.
And we keep going. The things we still don't do, we write down instead of hiding them in a demo.
We are only at the beginning
We do not have every answer, and we do not pretend to: the channel manager and the bar till are not there today, and you find it written on the home page instead of discovering it in week three.
